How to Connect TikTok Shop to Shopify (Step-by-Step 2026 Guide)

To connect TikTok Shop to Shopify, install the TikTok app from the Shopify App Store, link a TikTok For Business account, create and verify a TikTok Shop seller account, then sync your products and set up shipping. Once connected, Shopify stays your source of truth: products, prices, and inventory sync to TikTok Shop, and TikTok Shop orders flow back into Shopify for fulfilment. This guide walks through every step, the settings that trip people up, and what to do after launch to actually get sales.
Check availability first
TikTok Shop is only open to sellers in certain countries. As of October 2026, Shopify's TikTok setup guide (help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-sales-channels/tiktok/setup) lists eligible store locations as the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Japan, and Brazil. Requirements, fees, and screens differ by market and change often, so use this guide for the overall flow and confirm details in TikTok Shop's Seller Center and Shopify's help docs for your region.
What you need before you start
- A Shopify store in an eligible country, with the products you want to sell already set up, an online store with a return policy page, and a verifiable address in Settings > Locations. Shopify's setup guide also says catalog sync needs a valid warehouse address and phone number, location names of 35 characters or fewer, and an address that matches Google Maps.
- A registered business (or eligible individual seller status in your market), plus identity documents for verification.
- A bank account in the country you sell in, for payouts.
- A warehouse or ship-from address and a return address in an eligible location.
- Products TikTok allows. Shopify requires products to meet TikTok's prohibited products policy for your region. Some categories are prohibited and others (for example certain beauty, health, and electronics products) need extra approval or documents.
- Fulfilment you can keep fast. TikTok Shop tracks shipping performance, including late dispatch and seller-fault cancellations, and poor scores can restrict your shop. The exact deadlines and thresholds vary by market and have changed over time, so check the current numbers in your Seller Center's shop health page.
Step-by-step: connect TikTok Shop to Shopify
Step 1: Install the TikTok app for Shopify
In Shopify admin, open the Shopify App Store and install TikTok (published by TikTok Inc.). The app listing says it is free to install with additional charges possible (ad spend is billed to your TikTok ad account), and as of 14 October 2026 it showed a 4.8/5 rating from 16,033 reviews. It adds TikTok as a sales channel. Open it and connect your TikTok For Business account, or create one during onboarding. This same connection handles the TikTok pixel and ads, not just the shop.
Step 2: Create or connect your TikTok Shop seller account
From the app, start TikTok Shop onboarding. If you already have a Seller Center account, connect it; otherwise, register a new one. Choose the market you are selling in; this decides your currency, fees, and rules.
Step 3: Verify your business
Submit your business registration details, the legal representative's ID, and your bank account. Verification is usually reviewed within a few days, but can take longer if documents don't match. Make sure the business name and address match exactly across all documents.
Step 4: Set up shipping, warehouse, and returns
Add your warehouse (pickup) and return addresses in Seller Center. Choose whether you ship with TikTok's shipping option (where offered) or your own carrier, and set handling times you can actually hit. Orders will appear in Shopify, so if you use a 3PL or fulfilment app, confirm it picks up orders from the TikTok sales channel.
Step 5: Sync your products
In the TikTok app in Shopify, select the products or collections to publish. The app maps Shopify fields to TikTok's listing requirements, and each product is reviewed. Expect some rejections at first; common causes include:
- Missing or wrong category — map each product to the correct TikTok category.
- Image problems — watermarks, text overlays, collages, or low resolution on the main image.
- Titles — too long, keyword-stuffed, promotional ("best", "#1", "sale"), or mentioning other brands.
- Missing attributes — size charts for apparel, weight and dimensions for shipping, or required certificates.
- Restricted products — items that need category approval before they can be listed.
Fix issues in Shopify where possible and re-sync, so your catalog stays consistent across channels.
Step 6: Check pricing, inventory, and sync settings
Decide whether TikTok Shop prices mirror Shopify or differ. Many brands price slightly differently to cover referral fees and affiliate commission. Confirm inventory syncs in real time so you don't oversell, and consider holding back a buffer on low-stock items.
Step 7: Set up the pixel and Events API
In the TikTok app, turn on the pixel for your Shopify store and choose a data-sharing level. TikTok's help article describes three: Standard uses only the browser-based TikTok Pixel, Enhanced adds more data-sharing methods (the server-side Events API), and Maximum combines all options. Pick the highest level your privacy policy and consent setup allow. Browser-only tracking can be blocked by ad blockers, so the server-side connection helps TikTok ads optimise for purchases on your site, which matters even if most sales happen in TikTok Shop.
Step 8: Place a test order
Before promoting anything, buy a low-cost product through TikTok Shop yourself. Check that the order appears on Shopify's Orders page with the TikTok order ID, that stock decrements, that your fulfilment flow picks it up, and that the shipment shows as fulfilled in Seller Center once shipped. Then test a cancellation or refund: Shopify's TikTok orders guide says refunds, returns, and cancellations must be completed in TikTok Seller Center, so your support team needs access there.

TikTok Shop fees
TikTok Shop charges a referral (commission) fee on each order, which varies by market and category. We have deliberately not quoted a percentage here: TikTok publishes its rates inside Seller Center and Seller University by market, third-party guides disagree on details like processing fees and new-seller discounts, and the rates have changed more than once. On top of the referral fee you pay any affiliate commission you offer creators, plus shipping and ad spend. Check the current fee schedule in Seller Center for your market, and work out your margin per order before you set prices; our break-even ROAS guide shows how to put a number on it.
After you connect: how to get TikTok Shop sales
Connecting the shop takes a day or two. Getting it to sell is the real work, and it runs on video.
Make shoppable videos
Post short, vertical videos from your own account with the product tagged. What works is the same as on your product pages: the product in use in the first two seconds, a clear problem and result, real people over polished studio shots. For more on the format, see what is shoppable video and what is UGC video.
Launch an affiliate program
TikTok Shop's affiliate tools let creators find your products, request samples, and earn a commission on sales from their videos and LIVEs. Use an open plan so any eligible creator can promote you, and targeted plans with higher commission for creators you want to work with closely. Affiliate creators are often the fastest way to get volume, because their audience already trusts them. Our guide on getting UGC videos without paying influencers covers the sampling side.
Go LIVE
LIVE shopping works well for products that need demonstrating or for time-limited offers. Start with a regular slot, pin products, and show them in use rather than just holding them up.
Run TikTok Shop ads
Once you have a few videos that sell organically, boost them. GMV Max is TikTok's automated campaign type for shop sales: it handles targeting, bidding, and creative selection across product listings and LIVE. TikTok's January 2025 announcement of the UK launch says it followed a 2024 US rollout and that US sellers saw an average 30% GMV increase; that is TikTok's own figure, not an independent measurement. Spark Ads let you run creators' posts as ads with their permission. Compare formats in our guide to shoppable ads.
Troubleshooting common problems
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Products stuck in review or rejected | Category, image, title, or restricted-product issues | Read the rejection reason, fix in Shopify, re-sync |
| Products not syncing | Product not published to the TikTok channel, or missing required fields | Check channel availability and required attributes in the app |
| Orders not showing in Shopify | App disconnected or permissions changed | Reconnect the app and check the sales channel settings |
| Inventory mismatch or overselling | Sync paused, or stock edited in Seller Center | Manage stock in Shopify only; keep sync on |
| Shop rating dropping | Late shipments, cancellations, or poor reviews | Tighten handling times, fix stock accuracy, improve packaging and support |
| Verification rejected | Mismatched or unclear documents | Resubmit with details matching exactly across documents |
Is TikTok Shop worth it for Shopify brands?
TikTok Shop suits products that are visual, easy to demonstrate in seconds, and priced for a quick decision: beauty, fashion accessories, gadgets, home, snacks. It is harder for high-ticket or complex products, and the fees plus affiliate commission mean it needs healthy margins. The trade-off: TikTok owns much of the customer relationship, so plan how you'll bring buyers back to your own store through packaging inserts, email, and the Shop app. For how TikTok fits alongside Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest, read our guide to social commerce for Shopify.

See our social ads serviceFrequently asked questions
Can I connect TikTok Shop to Shopify?
Yes. Install the official TikTok app from the Shopify App Store, connect a TikTok For Business account, create or connect a TikTok Shop seller account, and sync your products. Orders from TikTok Shop then flow into Shopify.
Is the TikTok app for Shopify free?
The app itself is free to install; its Shopify App Store listing says additional charges may apply. You pay TikTok Shop's referral fees on sales, any affiliate commissions you offer, and ad spend if you run TikTok ads. Check current fees in Seller Center for your market.
How long does it take to set up TikTok Shop with Shopify?
Installing the app and syncing products takes an hour or two. Business verification and product reviews usually take a few days, sometimes longer if documents or listings need fixing.
Do TikTok Shop orders show up in Shopify?
Yes. Shopify's help docs say TikTok Shop orders appear on the Orders page in Shopify admin, where you fulfil them with your normal process or 3PL. An order is only created if Shopify shows available inventory. Refunds, returns, and cancellations are completed in TikTok Seller Center, not Shopify.
Why are my products rejected on TikTok Shop?
The most common reasons are the wrong category, main images with watermarks or text, promotional or overly long titles, missing attributes like size charts or weight, and restricted products that need category approval.
Can I sell on TikTok Shop without a Shopify store?
Yes, you can list products directly in TikTok Shop Seller Center. Connecting Shopify is useful because it keeps products, inventory, and orders in one place across all your sales channels.
What are TikTok shoppable videos?
TikTok shoppable videos are videos with a product tagged in them, so viewers can tap the product card and buy through TikTok Shop without leaving the app. Brands can post them from their own account, and affiliate creators can tag your products in theirs.
Is TikTok Shop available in my country?
TikTok Shop is only available in selected markets, and the list changes. As of October 2026, Shopify's setup guide lists the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Japan, and Brazil as eligible store locations for the TikTok Shop integration. Check Shopify's help center and TikTok Seller Center for the current list.
